BFAWU launches Sexual Harassment survey

Last week members of the BFAWU were invited to fill in a survey asked them about their experience of sexual harassment in their workplaces, work and union events, and within the union itself.

Reponses have started to flow in and it is clear there is an issue in the food industry, where it seems there is a culture of sexual harassment and even violence being brushed off as banter, swept under the carpet and ignored, or the survivor being blamed.

Issues with customers acting inappropriately and not being challenged by management and a general lack of knowledge and visibility of clear policies around Sexual Harassment and how to report incidents.

If you are a BFAWU member and you haven’t received the survey, which was sent via email, please check your spam folder in the first instance, contact info@bfawu.org if it’s not there as we may not have an up to date email address for you.

Please also remember we have a specific email address to report situations of sexual harassment report@bfawu.org

At the end of February, we will close the survey, and work on a report and resources for members and branches to use.
