Planned strike action in Hovis Belfast
Statement from the BFAWU Negotiating Committee
Planned Strike Action in Hovis Belfast
Our members in Hovis Belfast have voted for and are planning to take strike action this Friday 14th May 2021, starting at 6.00am.
Following pay talks, members in the BFAWU and Unite the Union have decided enough is enough! They, along with all food workers in the UK, have worked throughout the year to supply the nation with food, as they always do, and this past year has proven how essential their work really is. Pay talks so far with the employer have been unsuccessful, with minimal percentage pay offers being tabled that felt like a slap across the face for the efforts of these workers in the past year. They put their own health and that of their families at risk by continuing to “work as normal” in the face of a global pandemic.
The trade unions urge the employer to move on the offer as a matter of urgency and a failure to resolve this dispute will most certainly see the picket out at 6.00am on Friday morning.
